Their famed batting line-up, spearheaded by skipper Virat Kohli who opened the innings, failed to get going and could only manage to post 147/7 after being sent in to bat. (I did not open the batting to look special: Virat Kohli)They lost wickets at regular intervals, failing to get any momentum in their innings. Kohli (29), recalled veteran Suresh Raina (34) and former skipper MS Dhoni (36) were the only batsmen to get starts but were unable to capitalise. Not only the senior batsmen, young players like opener KL Rahul (8), middle-order bat Manish Pandey (3), all-rounder Hardik Pandya (9) all got dismissed cheaply, squandering the chance to rise to the occasion. (We deserve to enjoy these T20I after successful season: Virat Kohli)England reached the target comfortably with 11 balls to spare, losing only three wickets.India are likely to persist with Kohli opening the batting. But they may re-look their team combination with pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Punjab batsman Mandeep Singh and seasoned leg-spinner Amit Mishra considered for selection. (‘Precise’ England outplayed us: Virat Kohli)Rising wicketkeeper-batsman Rishab Pant has also a fair chance of being named in the playing XI, having impressed with his destructive batting abilities in a 50-over practice game against England earlier in Mumbai. Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the second T20I match between India and England. (Scorecard)Jasprit Bumrah: It’s always tough to bowl in the death. I tried to remember the past where I’ve done well in such situations. We saw the first innings, it was on the slower side. Back-of-length deliveries and slower deliveries were difficult to get away, so that is what I wanted to bowl.Bumrah in last two overs:4 runs + a bye9 dots!!!#INDvENG Rajneesh Gupta (@rgcricket) January 29, 2017 Ashish Nehra: Pressure game, I wanted to leave Jasprit with as many as possible to defend. Hats off to him, this isn’t the first time he’s done it for India. Jasprit asked me if he should bowl length. All I told him was ‘you have a good yorker, look to bowl full, it will be tough to hit.’ It worked. When 32 were needed off four overs, I told Jasprit we will win. This the 2nd lowest total (144/8) successfully defended by India in T20IsTheir lowest ever for India at homeIndvEng Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) January 29, 2017 Jasprit Bumrah is the man of the moment. When he came back into the attack, England needed 41 off 30 balls. The odds were in the visitors’ favour. But one ball after another one, he bowled the slower deliveries to snatch the match away from Eoin Morgan and Co. The 18th over really did the trick for India, where Bumrah bowled four dot balls and almost scalped Joe Root’s wicket off the last delivery. advertisementWith 8 runs off the last over, he kept his nerves in check to dismiss Root on the first ball itself. From there on, he made clever variations to make Jos Buttler’s life difficult only to castle him on the fourth ball. End overs have cost India a match many times, but this would be worth remembering. He bowled 9 dots in his last two overs. Virat Kohli must be mighty impressed with the youngster. Jasprit Bumrahs final over reminded us of Sachin Tendulkars final over at Kolkata against South Africa in the 1993 Hero Cup#IndvEng Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) January 29, 2017 22.30 IST: INDIA WINS BY 5 RUNS! Bumrah strikes! Angles it on a length on off, comes in, Root looks to drag it through square leg but gets hit on his pads. The players go up in an appeal and the umpire rules it out. Big wicket for India, Root is not happy though. Replays show that there was an inside edge there, India won’t mind it though.22.19 IST: SIX! Just over Kohli! Buttler bowls it wide outside off, Buttler manages to get it over long on from his crease. Kohli leaps up to take the catch at long on but only manages to get a hand to it. A big over for England. 8 needed in 6 balls.22.04 IST: WICKET! Slower one does the trick there. Stokes moved his leg across and wanted to heave it towards deep mid-wicket, but he misses it. Nehra goes up and the umpire reciprocates positively. Stokes is upset, India is happy! Important breakthrough. 28 runs needed off 19 balls. Mishra strikes at last for India! Mishra bowls the off-spinner on the stumps, Morgan looks to go over long on but gets it off the top half of the bat. Bowls this one on a length on the stumps, Roy looks to punch it through mid-wicket but the extra bounce means he is beaten on it and the ball lobs towards mid on. Suresh Raina makes no mistake and India now have two in two. Ashish Nehra was hit around in the first game but has begun well today, he is on a hat-trick. India, not wasting any time, open the bowling with Yuzvendra Chahal.20.40 IST: The last over couldn’t have been more miserable for India, just the five runs and three wickets. But the chase won’t be a walk in the park given the long boundaries and the assistance for spin. It goes without saying that early wickets would be crucial for the hosts. Join us in a bit for the chase.Last six overs of Indian innings : 39 runs – 5 wicketsDots-10Singles-21!!!!Twos-34s/6s-2Extras-2#INDvENG Rajneesh Gupta (@rgcricket) January 29, 2017 20.37 IST: A similar story to the one in Kanpur, though the deck assisted the bowlers a lot more than it did there. Lots of slower balls, tight bowling by Moeen Ali and poor shots by India. Virat Kohli gave the side some momentum with his 15-ball 21. But as soon as he departed, the runs dried up owing to Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh’s struggle against spin. However, KL Rahul, going through a lean patch, calmed things down and scored boundaries at regular intervals. Though a couple of them were lucky, India won’t mind that.advertisement20.33 IST: WICKET! Amit Mishra is caught way short of his crease as Moeen Ali’s throw is accurate and Jordan does the rest.20.30 IST: OUT! Unfortunate for Pandya! Jordan spears it full on the stumps, Pandya hits it dead straight and hits the stumps at the non-striker’s end. The pitch will deteriotrate as the game progress. We’ve got an extra leg spinner. For an off-spinner, we thought we could use Raina as an option. 8 overs from two leg spinners might be the difference between them. Two leg spinners might create some difference. There will be turn for sure. First innings is the best time to bat on for sure. We are not too upset about losing the toss.
