(Photo by Sean M. Haffey/Getty Images)Josh Jacobs was already in discussions to be the first running back off the board in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Crimson Tide star reportedly helped himself even more in front of NFL personnel during a recent event.Jacobs missed a number of drills during the NFL Scouting Combine earlier in the process. On March 20, Jacobs participated in drills in Tuscaloosa during Alabama Pro Day, and reportedly impressed.Front office insider Gil Brandt reported that his source called Jacobs’ performance “exceptional.” Clearly, he was already trending upwards, and seems to be in line for a first round selection. If there was an area for improvement, it was Jacobs’ 40-yard dash. At Alabama’s first Pro Day, he reportedly ran in the mid-4.6 second range.Alabama held a second Pro Day recently, and Josh Jacobs reportedly performed much better in the 40-yard dash.NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports that Jacobs was in the low-to-mid 4.5 range, an impressive time for a back of his size.#Bama RB prospect Josh Jacobs ran his 40-yard dash again today at Alabama’s second Pro Day and the times ranged from 4.52 – 4.56, source said. An improvement from the 220-pounder.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 2, 2019That is good news for Jacobs, who doesn’t have quite the same rep as an Ezekiel Elliott or Saquon Barkley in recent years. That is, in part, because Alabama was so good at splitting time between a number of exceptional backs, including Jacobs, Damien Harris, and Bo Scarborough.Jacobs ran for 640 yards and 11 touchdowns on just 120 carries in 2018.

India look to finish overseas journey on a high in T20I series vs New ZealandIndia vs New Zealand T20Is: India are determined to finish on a high when they take on New Zealand in the first of three T20 Internationals in Wellington. This is the last leg of their overseas tours which started with a Test series in South Africa in early 2018.advertisement Rajarshi Gupta WellingtonFebruary 5, 2019UPDATED: February 5, 2019 23:04 IST India vs New Zealand T20Is: India have the firepower to win their first-ever T20I series in New Zealand (AP Photo)HIGHLIGHTSIndia will play a three-match T20I series in New Zealand from WednesdayIndia have enjoyed a lot of success in limited-overs away from home with a 2-1 defeat in England being the only blipRohit Sharma will lead the team in the absence of Virat Kohli, who has been restedSouth Africa. England. Australia and finally New Zealand. India’s overseas journey is in its final stage and they would want to finish on a high after an unhappy start in South Africa. India had crashed to heartbreaking defeats in Cape Town and Centurion before that remarkable victory in Johannesburg. The ODIs in South Africa showed the world what India were really capable of. Driven by Virat Kohli’s hundreds and the guile of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal helped India trounce South Africa 5-1 for a historic ODI series triumph. They followed that up with a T20I series win in South Africa. Back-to-back series wins in South Africa and the Indian team was on a high.England would always be a much stiffer challenge but India warmed up nicely with T20I series wins in Ireland and England. India were given a reality check in the ODIs but the 1-2 defeat was perhaps understandable because they played without their first-choice bowling attack. MS Dhoni endured the worst year of his international career and there were no hundreds from Virat Kohli.Let the T20Is begin #TeamIndia all set to take on the Kiwis for the 1st T20I tomorrow at Westpac Stadium #NZvIND pic.twitter.com/iHzeIL7390BCCI (@BCCI) February 5, 2019What was not understandable was India’s shambolic performance in the Test series. They failed to take advantage of strong positions and Virat Kohli’s team selection raised several questions. However, Kohli continued his domination with the bat and scored nearly 600 runs in 5 Tests to show he was by far the most outstanding batsman in modern cricket.advertisementBy the time India flew down to Australia, Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri were under pressure. Both men had claimed this was the best Indian team over the last 15 years and it was time to prove it. Without Steve Smith and David Warner, Australia were considerably weaker but they were still a force to reckon with in their own conditions. Starc. Hazlewood. Cummins. Lyon.Cheteshwar Pujara blunted arguably the most balanced Test bowling attack in the world and India’s pacers rocked the Aussies. India welcomed New Year with a historic 2-1 Test series triumph. A few weeks later, India won their first ever bilateral ODI series in Australia.New Zealand was going to be a short stop on India’s way back home. But the five ODIs were going to be crucial in the build-up to the World Cup. Virat Kohli did not score a hundred – no one did – but India finally found answers to their middle-order woes. MS Dhoni had found form in Australia and Ambati Rayudu finally cemented his place with a cultured 90 after India had collapsed to 18 for 4 in the final ODI in Wellington. A 4-1 series win over the Black Caps gave India the confidence of staging a strong challenge in the World Cup.And now, there is another opportunity for the likes of Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and Vijay Shankar to impress the selectors and the team management. Pant is certainly a lock for the World Cup but Gill, who replaced KL Rahul in the ODI and T20I side in New Zealand, will hope to make a mark any way he can.Welcome to the T20 format. AP St. LuciaMarch 6, 2019UPDATED: March 6, 2019 08:10 IST 1st T20I: England chased down the West Indies target of 160 easily (@ICC Photo)HIGHLIGHTSEngland beat West Indies by 4 wickets in the 1st T20I in St. LuciaNicholas Pooran top scored for WI as Tom Curran took 4 wicketsJonny Bairstow’s 40-ball 68 gave England a 1-0 lead in the 3-match seriesJonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid guided a depleted England side to a four-wicket victory over the West Indies on Tuesday in the first Twenty20.England excused four of their first-choice side after the drawn ODI series – Jos Buttler, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali – but Bairstow plugged a big gap in the batting lineup with a career-best 68 from 40 balls.Opening for the first time in 28 matches he broke the back of a 161-run target, which owed much to Rashid’s miserly return of 1-15. Tom Curran walked away with four wickets as the West Indies posted 160-8 but it was Rashid’s precise stint which did most to stall the home side.Joe Denly and Sam Billings both fell with the end line in sight but Curran reappeared to hit the winning boundary with seven balls remaining.Chris Gayle, the man-of-the-series in the ODIs, fell to Chris Jordan’s wide yorker which he could only squeeze to short third man. Shimron Hetmyer also failed to leave his mark on proceedings, chipping in with 14 before pumping a Curran full toss straight to mid-on.Darren Bravo and Nicholas Pooran helped claw back some of the lost ground, as the fourth-wicket pair added 64 in 51 balls but were parted in style by the returning Jordan.#WIvENG “Whatever I can do to achieve for the team is priority” – Nicholas Pooran on his mindset for the T20 Series #MenInMaroon #ItsOurGameListen to the interview!pic.twitter.com/edjhllmfbuWindies Cricket (@windiescricket) March 6, 2019The reply began in a flurry of activity as Sheldon Cottrell’s opening over contained 17 runs, a dropped catch and finally the wicket of Alex Hales.advertisementJoe Root’s hopes of sharpening his T20 skills lasted exactly two balls, lbw to Cottrell attempting to open up the leg-side, but Bairstow was unaffected. He launched himself into a 13-ball sequence containing five boundaries and one six, driving England to 62 for two in the powerplay, well ahead of the West Indies benchmark.Bairstow nicked Carlos Brathwaite on 34 but a fingertip catch skimmed off Hope’s gloves and brought him four more. Brathwaite did manage to see off skipper Eoin Morgan but Bairstow was dropped again by Cottrell shortly after reaching a 27-ball 50 with his second six.We take a 1-0 lead in the series!!Scorecard: https://t.co/FmcHZ8Jd1A#WIvENG pic.twitter.com/9u1ROvPmuVEngland Cricket (@englandcricket) March 5, 2019By the time he was held at wide long-on, he had left a target of 58 in 50 balls.Billings and Denly, both of whom are still seeking to find their place in the England set-up, chalked off all but eight of the required runs in calm fashion before nerves struck.Holder persuaded Denly to hole out with 14 balls remaining then Billings had a let-off next ball, Oshane Thomas just failing to hang to a mis-cued pull at fine leg.Reprieved, Billings then swiped at a Cottrell cutter that knocked back his stumps. Four byes over Hope’s head eased the growing tension allowing Curran to slog the winning runs. For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. Amitabh Bachchan on watching Paa with PM Narendra Modi: An unusual experienceAmitabh Bachchan lauded Akshay Kumar’s candid interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 76-year-old actor, who watched Paa with PM Modi many years ago, called it an unusual experience.advertisement India Today Web Desk New DelhiApril 25, 2019UPDATED: April 25, 2019 12:25 IST Big B watched Paa with PM Narendra Modi.On Wednesday morning, Akshay Kumar indulged in a one-of-its-kind conversation with the Prime Minister of India. It’s not every day that a Bollywood actor gets to have a “candid” chat with PM Narendra Modi, but Akshay Kumar got that rare opportunity. From PM Modi’s social media presence to his favourite Bollywood film, the two discussed a variety of subjects in their “completely non-political” interaction. Even Amitabh Bachchan couldn’t help but laud Akshay Kumar for the interview with PM Narendra Modi.During the interaction with Khiladi Kumar, PM Modi was asked about his favourite Bollywood films. To which, he replied, “I used to watch movies at a cinema hall in my village during childhood. I remember watching a movie [Paa] with Amitabh Bachchan when I was Gujarat CM. I also watched A Wednesday with Anupam Ji…it is based on the issue of terrorism.”Soon, Big B took to Twitter to recall the experience of watching Paa with PM Modi. The 76-year-old actor called it an unusual experience. He also praised Akshay Kumar for conducting the interview with so much dignity and respect.Bachchan wrote, “… an unusual and first experience .. the PM being interviewed by a Film fraternity star, Akshay Kumar .. dignity, respect, regard. Toh is prakaar se main aapke kaam aaya hoon (laughs).”In a recent interview to Hindustan Times, Akshay revealed that “he did not know where to look”, when PM Modi had made the lighthearted dig at Twinkle. “I did not know where to look. I was stumped by his wit, and the very sporting manner in which he said it. I didn’t know what to reply. I could only laugh embarrassingly and I thought to myself ek taraf biwi, ek taraf desh ka Pradhan Mantri. Both have powerful portfolios in my life. It’s best to stay quiet.”Akshay Kumar’s interview with PM Narendra Modi was completely ‘non-political’ and dealt with a range of topics from the Prime Minister’s love for mangoes to how Mamata Didi (Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal) sends him kurtas and Bengali sweets.ALSO READ | PM Narendra Modi tells Akshay Kumar: Twinkle ji ka poora gussa mujhpe nikal jaata hai Twitter peALSO READ | Akshay Kumar reacts to PM Narendra Modi’s comment on Twinkle Khanna: I did not know where to lookALSO WATCH | PM Modi has non-political chat with actor Akshay Kumar at 7 Lok Kalyan MargGet real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story? Next OnePlus 7 quick review: Still the flagship killerThe OnePlus 7 is a more affordable iteration of the OnePlus 7 Pro, cutting corners where it may not matter to most users. Starting at Rs 32,999, it is a fine example of what OnePlus does best – make a superb “flagship killer”.advertisement Amritanshu Mukherjee New DelhiMay 31, 2019UPDATED: June 3, 2019 09:57 IST HIGHLIGHTSThe OnePlus 7 starts at Rs 32,999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM while the top end variant with 8GB RAM costs Rs 37,999.There will only two colour variants available — Red and Mirror Grey. The OnePlus 7 is powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset that powers the OnePlus 7 Pro.Back in April, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau talked to India Today Tech about the company’s future plans for the Indian market and the new OnePlus 7 series phones. At the time, Lau focused mostly on the OnePlus 7 Pro, explaining how they worked hard to offer a distinct flagship smartphone experience. At the same time, he also confirmed that there will be a regular OnePlus 7. When OnePlus finally unveiled the new phones on May 14, the OnePlus 7 came across as the refreshed OnePlus 6T with a new chipset and better cameras. At the launch many wondered whether this was an unwise decision, considering OnePlus had the opportunity to offer something newer for the budget-conscious smartphone buyers. But I don’t think that is the right way to go about it. For example, look at the price. For its starting price of Rs 32,999 for the base variant of the OnePlus 7, you not only get stellar core hardware but also generous 128GB storage. Yes, Oneplus 7 is a refreshed and revamped OnePlus 6T. But the OnePlus 6T is by no means a bad point to start from it was my top recommendation until the new OnePlus phones came out this year.OnePlus 6T? OnePlus 7? Errr, which is the new one?Did I say that the OnePlus 7 is essentially an upgraded OnePlus 6T? The OnePlus 7 doesn’t alter the comfortable design of the OnePlus 6T in any significant way. I showed the phone to a couple of people and almost all of them mistook it for the OnePlus 6T. Is that good or bad? That’s up to your personal preference. I loved the aesthetics of the OnePlus 6T, especially the curved rear panel that enhanced the ergonomics massively. And after living with the heavier OnePlus 7 Pro for a while, the OnePlus 7 feels compact and lighter, despite having a 6.4-inch display.advertisementKeen readers may notice slight changes that OnePlus has incorporated into the design of the OnePlus 6T. The major change on the OnePlus 7 is the protruded camera bump immediately suggesting a new camera system. The module is slimmer and echoes the aesthetics of the OnePlus 7 Pro. The flash now sits inside the module to emulate the triple camera systems. The new OnePlus branding also sits at the bottom. The Mirror Grey colour variant has a slight gradient effect but the Red variant (exclusive to India in the 8GB variant) looks ravishing even without any gradient. This colour is similar to Red variant of last year’s OnePlus 6. The front sports the familiar waterdrop-style notch display with a slightly noticeable chin. However, the earpiece is now bigger as the OnePlus 7 finally gets a dual speaker setup for pronounced stereo effects. The headphone jack is sadly not present and OnePlus is not offering the 3.5mm headphone jack dongle with the package anymore.A full-blown OnePlus experienceOver the years, OnePlus has built a reputation for offering a unique user experience that no other Android phone vendor has managed to achieve. And that’s down to the presence of flagship-grade internals and a highly polished user interface. The OnePlus 7 is not alien to this concept.Similar to its pricier kin, the OnePlus 7 gets the ultimate chipset that everyone’s been using in flagships — Snapdragon 855. This is enough on its own to offer a fast experience. However, OnePlus is offering the faster UFS 3.0 storage that aids faster read and write speeds. On the OnePlus 7 Pro, I found the UFS 3.0 storage making a mega difference to the overall user experience. Therefore, as I spend more time with the OnePlus, I expect nothing less.Oxygen OS is present in its latest avatar and while I haven’t spent enough time with the OnePlus 7, the overall experience feels snappy for now. At first glance, the interface looks very similar to the one on the OnePlus 7 Pro and that’s a very good thing. There’s something that immediately caught attention right from the moment I booted it up the screen. This phone, unlike the OnePlus 7 Pro, gets a smaller 6.4-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a conventional refresh rate of 60Hz. The display seems to be really good for its price make no mistakes here. But I am used to the 90Hz smoothness of the OnePlus 7 Pro and a 60Hz display now tires eyes. If you are dead-set on buying the OnePlus 7, I would suggest just don’t look at the OnePlus 7 Pro’s display. What puzzles me is the camera department. The OnePlus 6T already had a robust set of dual cameras meant to offer better low-light photography, which is my opinion worked really well. With the OnePlus 7, there’s the popular 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 camera acting as the primary unit while the second unit is simply a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The 48-megapixel camera impressed us fairly on the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus may be relying extensively on the Pixel Binning technology and smarter algorithms for improved low-light performance. I believe retaining the secondary 20-megapixel low-light sensor would still have been a better choice. Nonetheless, wait for our full review to see whether this new setup is good.advertisementLastly, the battery section has been completely left untouched. The same 3700mAh battery has been carried over from the OnePlus 6T and if the optimization is as good as the one on the OnePlus 6T, then I expect at least a day’s backup under heavy load. I wish OnePlus had gone for Warp Charge 30 with the OnePlus 7 but at Rs 32,999, I am willing to live with the 20W Fast Charge system.OnePlus 7 first impressions: Feels like a sensible flagship The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 ProThe OnePlus 7 starts at Rs 32,999 with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, which is Rs 16,000 cheaper than the OnePlus7 Pro. If the 90Hz screen and camera performance don’t matter, this seems to be the sensible choice. The OnePlus 7 is even cheaper than its predecessor but does that mean it’s inferior? At first glance, absolutely not. The faster performance is immediately visible while the minor refinements here-and-there seem to make this an unbeatable proposition. We can’t deliver a verdict on this one until the full review but if you want to get this right now, don’t hesitate and go ahead. Just don’t look at the OnePlus 7 Pro before buying this.ALSO READ | OnePlus 7 Pro review: The OnePlus phone that is near perfectALSO READ | OnePlus 7 Pro gaming review: More than enough power with goodness of extra smooth 90Hz screenALSO READ | Redmi K20 Pro vs OnePlus 7: Different takes on affordable flagshipsGet real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story? England vs New Zealand, Chester-le-Street Durham Weather ForecastEngland vs New Zealand, Chester-le-Street Durham Weather Forecast: Here’s all that you need to know about the weather forecast and prediction for rain on Tuesday at Chester-le-Street ground in Durham.advertisement India Today Web Desk DurhamJuly 3, 2019UPDATED: July 3, 2019 12:36 IST Durham Weather Forecast: England vs New Zealand (AP Photo)Eoin Morgan hit “rock bottom” when his England team was demolished by New Zealand at the last Cricket World Cup.Four years later, a win over the Black Caps at the tournament would leave the England captain within touching distance of the ultimate career high.England will secure a spot in the semifinals by beating New Zealand in the northeast town of Chester-le-Street on Wednesday, ending a group-stage campaign in which the World Cup host has found itself in a perilous position.A defeat would leave the English at the mercy of Pakistan, which would then guarantee a playoff spot with a win over Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday.England was back playing the positive brand of cricket – as Morgan put it on Tuesday – the team has been known for in this World Cup cycle, during which it climbed to No. 1 in the rankings largely on the back of a destructive batting lineup. And that attacking mindset was largely inspired by New Zealand’s style of play in the 2015 tournament which really hit the heights in an eight-wicket win over England that Morgan took a while to get over. Bowled out for 123, England was overhauled in 12.2 overs by the Kiwis that led to an embarrassing group-stage exit.EXPECTED WEATHER IN DURHAM TODAY Accuweather screengrabMore than 650 runs were scored at Chester-le-Street in the game between Sri Lanka and West Indies on Monday. With a different, fresh pitch being used on Wednesday and on the back of some decent weather in northern England, another run-fest could be on the cards.advertisementThat would suit England, which has struggled with its management of tighter, low-scoring matches in this tournament. Accuweather screengrabNew Zealand meanwhile, reached the final in 2015 and is on track to get back in the last four. A win against England seals a semifinal berth, while avoiding a big defeat should also mean fifth-placed Pakistan cannot overhaul the Black Caps. Pakistan is two points behind New Zealand going into the final group matches but has a much inferior net run-rate.Such is the ebb and flow of a long group-stage campaign that England suddenly appears to be on the up after beating India, while New Zealand, which won its first five matches, might be lacking some belief after losing to Pakistan and Australia back to back. For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
