Camarillo leads area rushers

first_img2:15 p.m. Another strong performance in a big Whittier Christian victory keeps running back Esteban Camarillo on top of the area’s rushing stats. Camarillo rushed for 289 yards and six touchdowns as the Heralds rolled over Campbell Hall, 68-7, in their Alpha League opener Saturday. the 5-foot-6 senior has 1,173 yards and 16 touchdowns in five games and has a shot at the school’s single-seaon rushing record of 2,445 yards set by Craig Johnston in 1975. Esteban has 3,874 yards in two-plus seasons and has an outside chance of topping Johnston’s career rushing record of 5,213 yards set in 1973-75.
